Appointment of CEO to Save the Children Australia

Save the Children Australia is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Falvey as Acting Chief Executive following the recent departure of Margaret Douglas.

Brian Hartzer, Chair of Save the Children Australia congratulated Ms Douglas on her contribution to the organisation over the past eight years.

“Margaret has made a fabulous contribution to the growth of Save the Children Australia since the organisation consolidated at national level earlier this decade.  During her time as CEO, she has overseen a dramatic growth in fundraising revenue and more importantly the delivery of quality programs to children and communities with whom we work across our region,” he said.

Mr. Hartzer also recognised Ms Douglas’ professionalism and dedication, and acknowledged her selection as Equity Trustees Not-for-Profit CEO of the Year in 2007.
Acting CEO, Peter Falvey has been involved in international development at various levels throughout his career.  He was recently appointed to the board of Save the Children Australia as an independent member, and in accordance with good governance has temporarily stepped down.   Peter was formerly a Director of ACIL (now Cardno ACIL), an international consulting firm working to achieve more sustainable outcomes for people in developing countries.
