Speaking Out Speaking Out. (Copyright: Save the Children Australia)

Speaking Out is a program which gives a voice to children who cannot tell their own stories.  The program informs and educates Australian children about issues that face children in the developing world such as poverty, child labour and exploitation. It aims to improve young people’s awareness of and commitment to child rights, and to become informed global citizens.

Speaking Out is presented by trained volunteers and educators, and is practical, fun and memorable, as well as supporting curriculum teaching.  The program engages both primary and secondary age students and their teachers, as well as community organisations.

School resources

The Speaking Out school publications are designed for primary and secondary schools. The resources are practical, fun and memorable and introduce young people to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, create awareness of the issues that face children in developing countries and empower Australian students to act as advocates for child rights.
