This project works with indigenous, Cham Muslim and Khmer communities to promote safe migration and prevent the trafficking of women and children. It benefits children, in particular young boys and girls within target communities by raising awareness of potential risks of migration. It also seeks to address the nature and source of vulnerability, including community attitudes towards land, natural resources and employment opportunities.
By raising awareness of the risk with vulnerable groups particularly, and by focusing on community attitudes which leave women and children vulnerable to trafficking, this project seeks to strengthen protection mechanisms at the community level and promote implementation of legislation.
The overall objective is to protect children and young people from being placed in situations of abuse or forced labour both within Cambodia and into neighbouring countries.
