This new project, funded by AusAID, aims to build community resistance to disasters. With the area prone to food shortages, we are focusing on creating opportunities for families to maintain a sustainable livelihood, even through drought or other natural or man-made disasters.
In addition, we are working in partnership with the Government to identify and map the geographic areas most vulnerable to disaster. In a related project, children are taught about the environment they live in and how they and their families can be better prepared for and protected from disasters. Through this disaster risk education we believe children will be better prepared in the event of any disaster, natural or man-made.
