Child Protection Project

The Child Protection project aims to reduce the likelihood of violence against children by strengthening local organisations to coordinate and facilitate greater family, community and political responsibility for child protection.

Save the Children Australia works closely with UNICEF and has developed a partnership with the Ministry of Education to deliver its activities.

Together a number of awareness raising activities for children, communities and government organisations have occurred through the use of a developed child protection facilitation package, community training workshops, awareness raising targeting schools, community leaders, churches and education programs.

The project retains the activities of the Pacific Children’s Program, and is a regional program focusing on the protection of children from violence and is implemented in Fiji and Samoa, Kiribati, Solomon Islands (through government departments) and by Save the Children Australia in Vanuatu.

It is funded by the Australian Government through AusAID and is managed by UNICEF.
