'Speaking Out' is Save the Children’s free speaker service for schools, which is giving voice to the desperately poor children of this world who cannot tell their own stories.. Our trained school speakers are available to bring to life the issues and real-life stories of children around the world. Their presentations are practical, fun and memorable, as well as supporting curriculum teaching.
Speaking Out involves volunteer speakers going to primary and secondary schools to inform students about the work of Save the Children.
The idea of ‘Speaking Out’ goes back to 1990 in the UK, and today, there are over 350 volunteer speakers involved with the Speaking Out program in the UK. Speakers provide colourful resources and use real-life stories about the children that Save the Children works with. The speakers help their audiences become aware and informed global citizens.
Currently there is a growing Speaking Out program in Western Australia , South Australia and Queensland , with plans to expand the program to other states as resources become available.
