Thank you for your interest in Save the Children and the work we do.
Behind Save the Children's work are thousands of special people throughout Australia and around the world who give their time to raise vital funds and help promote our work. Without them we could not help the children who need us most
Whether you can spare a few hours once a year, or one or two days a week, we need people like you and there are many ways you can help:

If you are based outside Australia, there are Save the Children organisations in many other countries that might be able to assist. Please see the International Save the Children Alliance for details of the other 27 countries in the Save the Children network.
If there isn't a Save the Children organisation in your country, please see OneWorld.net and search for local charities.
There are very few opportunities for volunteers from Australia to work in our global programs, because in line with Save the Children's aim of encouraging self-sufficiency, we keep the use of expatriates to a minimum and employ national staff wherever possible. All the expatriate staff we do employ are qualified and experienced professionals with specific areas of expertise not available locally.
Save the Children appreciates the motivation, initiative and good will of those wishing to volunteer overseas but in almost all cases such offers cannot be accepted.
If you do want to volunteer overseas, you can contact Australian Volunteers International, an Australian non-government organisation that provides opportunities for Australians to live alongside, learn from and share skills with people in developing communities. Their work is aimed at promoting a more peaceful world through greater cross-cultural understanding and international cooperation between people. It is built on an ethos of partnership, teamwork and consultation. Like Save the Children, they have no religious or political affiliations.
