How do I register?

There are 2 ways you can register for The Big Bounce.

  •   Online

The fastest and most effective way to register is online. We have partnered with online fundraising company Everyday Hero. EH is a trusted website that has a long history of working with Not for Profit organisations during fundraising campaigns. Donating online through Everyday Hero is a safe, quick and easy way you can contribute to The Big Bounce fundraising campaign.
It allows you to register as a team or individual, build a customised profile page to promote yourself, and most importantly, is very simple to email everyone your page to encourage fundraising!
Register now! This will take you through to The Big Bounce registration page, which sits on a communal fundraising site called Everyday Hero.
Once registered, you will then have the option of fundraising as an individual, to create a new team, or join an existing team.
Your Big Bounce page is there to promote your Big Bounce challenge, so be sure to add a pic of yourself, a blog as to why you're taking part and remember to keep it updated!

  • Phone or email

No internet? No worries!

Simply contact Save the Children in your local state or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will send a Big Bouncer sponsorship booklet and a parental consent form (for children under the age of 16). Save the Children requires the parental consent form to be returned before the child commences bouncing.
Upon completion of The Big Bounce, the money will need to be deposited in a NAB bank, using the Save the Children banking details on the booklet and the booklet sent back to us by Friday 17 December at the latest. We will then issue a receipt for the money raised.

How do I create an online fundraising profile page?

Thanks to Everyday Hero, it is so simple to set up an online fundraising profile page.
Get started now, or read through the following easy step by step process to get a thorough understanding.

I would like to donate but cannot participate in The Big Bounce?

We understand that not everyone has the opportunity to be involved or participate in The Big Bounce.
Don't worry! You can still help Aussie kids in need by sponsoring a Big Bouncer. Don't know anyone participating? That's ok, why not make a donation to one of Save the Children's many programs instead. All donations made to Save the Children go directly to helping children in need.

How do I send the money I raise to Save the Children?

Easy! There are two ways money can be transferred to Save the Children.
If you have set up a fundraising page online through Everyday Hero all the hard work will be done for you. Each time someone sponsors you and inputs their credit card details, the money will be directly transferred from their bank account to Save the Children's bank account, so you don't have to ask for money or forward banking details on.
If you have a sponsorship booklet and have collected money from people, you (or perhaps your parents) will need to take the money to your local branch and deposit it in to Save the Children's bank account that is listed on the inside page of your booklet. Be sure to include in the 'reference' field the booklet number which will be a 5 digit number on the first page of the booklet on the deposit form at the bank.

If I'm fundraising as a school or club how does the 50% of money come back to the school?

Once your school has finished fundraising online, Save the Children will contact you and organise for 50% of the funds raised to be deposited into your school's bank account. Due to Christmas holidays, the money transfer will take place in the second week of January.

If you are fundraising using sponsorship booklets, please deposit the full amount fundraised to Save the Children for reconciliation and we will then deposit the money directly in to your school's bank account, again in the second week of January.

What if I don’t reach my monetary or bounce targets?

Don't worry, you are still making a huge difference! Save the Children appreciates every dollar that is raised through The Big Bounce.
The Big Bounce is not just about raising a dollar amount, but is also about helping Save the Children increase our awareness that highlights the need for action to help children living right here in our own backyard. The Big Bounce is a big step in the right direction to make sure all Australian children can get the best start to life & by you taking part, no matter how large or small, you are helping us spread our message.

I want to get my school involved but i don't know what to say to my teacher or Principal?

We understand that it can sometimes be tricky trying to request that a new event be introduced to school, or more importantly being able to succinctly explain to a teacher or Principal what it is that you would like to do!
We think it's fantastic that you've taken the initiative to introduce The Big Bounce to your school, so we want to make it as easy as possible for you do to so.
We have developed a letter header that you can use to send a letter to your teacher or Principal, or an email template if you'd like to send an email. Just fill in the details where there are blank spaces on the template and send it off!
You can also suggest that you teacher or Principal might like to contact us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with any additional Big Bounce questions that you might not be able to answer.

Where did the idea of The Big Bounce come from?

The idea of 'Bouncing' actually came from a child! Save the Children was looking for a fundraising event  that was fun and easy for children to be involved with, so we decided to ask some kids what they thought! One suggestion was something involving Bouncing, so we decided to give it a go!!!
The great thing about bouncing activities is that it encourages development of key motor skills for younger children and allows parents to participate as well. Most importantly it’s a fun activity for all involved.

What is the final date for depositing the money I've raised?

Save the Children asks that all the money is deposited by the 24th of December 2010 at the very latest. This allows a couple of days from the close off date of the 20th December to collect any outstanding amounts.

What will be done with the money raised?

All money raised through The Big Bounce will go towards Save the Children’s work in Australia aimed at giving Aussie kids the best start in life. Money raised may go towards programs such as our early childhood development programs, or child protection programs, designed to give children a safe and happy childhood.

Are donations to The Big Bounce tax deductable?

Yes! Any donation above $2, can be claimed as a tax deduction. Donations made through Everyday Hero will receive a receipt via email and those that sponsor you using your sponsorship booklet can request a receipt be mailed out to them by ticking the box and filling in their details.

Can I register as a team?

Sure! It's easy to register through Everyday Hero as a group. Each team member can still create their own individual profile also to keep track of how much money each individual is contributing to the team.
If you want to register as a team, but use a sponsorship booklet rather than registering online, you can still do that also. Simply This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or phone 1800 76 00 11 to request a booklet.

Do I have to wear safety gear during my bounce?

The exciting thing about this event is that each person participating in the event can choose how they wish to bounce. With this said, Save the Children does not promote unsafe behaviour, therefore we encourage safety precautions taken at all times. Although Save the Children does not enforce the wearing of safety gear, we do recommend for everyone involved, especially young children, to regard safety as a serious issue and wear protective gear if you (or your parents) see fit.

Will the Big Bounce be a one off event?

2010 is the first year Save the Children is holding The Big Bounce and it most certainly won’t be the last. The plan is to hold The Big Bounce every year throughout November.

What Countries does Save the Children Australia work in?

We work in the following Countries:

Australia
Bangladesh
Cambodia
Lao PDR
Papua New Guinea
Solomon Islands

How can I promote The Big Bounce and my involvement in it?

We have heaps of cool ideas and tricks to make your Big Bounce efforts be seen! Take a look at The Big Bounce 'Useful Stuff', 'Sell Youself' and 'Be Seen' sections. They are full of tools, banners and templates to help you promote your Big Bounce Challenge.

I didn't receive a receipt book, do i need one?

No. When a person makes an online donation using the Everday Hero website, they will have a receipt automatically emailed to them which can be printed off. If you are fundraising using the sponsorship booklet, the Big Buddy (sponsor) can request a receipt by ticking the box on the information section of the booklet. A receipt will then be sent out to them.

I have forgotten my Everyday Hero profile password, what do I do?

Do not panic! If you do forget your password you will be prompted by Everyday Hero to send them an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or you can phone them on 1300 798 768 and they will be able to issue you with a new password.

Here's some ideas to get your bouncing started!

Get friends or family counting your bounces

If they're going to sponsor you, they want to make sure you're doing what they're paying for!!!
You could use a ‘clicker’ to help, it’s easy as 1! 2! 3!

Asking your parents for sponsorship

Here are a few cheeky tips we at Save the Children have tried and tested in the past when it comes to asking your parents for sponsorship money!

  • When asking your parents for sponsorship, try buttering them up with a cheeky puppy dog smile or offering to clean your room if they say yes.
  • Before you ask for the fundraising sponsorship, remind your parents that you love them very much and after giving them a big hug and a kiss you ask for the sponsorship.
  • Remind your parents that the money raised in The Big Bounce is going to Aussie kids who really need a helping hand.

Asking your brother and sisters:

We understand that trying to get sponsorship money off your brother or sister may be a little bit tricky, but feel free to try one of our ideas.

  • Offer to let your brother or sister have a night off and do their chores for them (just one night though!)
  • Challenge them!  If your brother or sister doesn’t believe you can complete the bounce, ask them to put their money where their mouth is!

Asking your friends:

Lollies! Everyone loves lollies, so when asking for sponsorship, offer your friends a sweet treat to ‘sweeten the deal’.

Be Confident:

Be confident when you are asking for sponsorship money and remember the money is going to a very good cause - helping Aussie kids get the best start in life.

Student Representative Committee (SRC)

Before you begin to bounce, why don't you contact your School's Student Representative Committee (SRC) and ask if they are able to help with your Big Bounce fundraising activity. Perhaps they could encourage students to sponsor you, or give you ideas on how to contact students within the school to request sponsorship.

School Teachers

Don’t hesitate to contact your class teacher, P.E teacher or even your school Principal to see if they will incorporate The Big Bounce in to one of your classes. Use one of our templates to email or write a letter to the person you think most appropriate.

Neighbours

With your parents escorting you, you might like to ask your neighbours to sponsor your Big Bounce efforts. You can even give a quick Big Bounce demonstration to impress your neighbourhood buddies!!

IMPORTANT:
Please remember that your safety is of utmost importance at all times.
You must ask your parents for permission before you walk to your neighbours houses. Save the Children does encourage any child to walk on the streets without parental supervision or permission.  If your parents let you walk with a brother or sister, you must make sure your parents know where you are.

Keeping Track of your bounces

Print off our Big Bounce calendar (link) and record a day by day tally of your bouncers. This is a great visual way to keep you on track to hit your Big Bounce target.
Why not also download the Big Bounce sponsorship booklet (link) to record the number of bounces you have completed and who has donated what amount of money to you.

S.M.A.R.T Target

We know setting yourself a target isn’t always easy, but why not try the  S.M.A.R.T approach!

Specific

Remember to be very specific in your target - once you've set it, stick to it!

Measurable

You must be able to measure your target, either by counting or perhaps using a counter so you don't lose your place! Perhaps use our calendar to keep score of your bounces each day

Achievable

Set a target that will challenge you, but at the same time you will be confident you can achieve - remember to push yourself! It is always a great feeling once you have achieved your goal!

Realistic

Set yourself a target you know ultimately you can reach. It will also keep your sponsors happy to know that your goal really is realistic.

Timely

Remember you always need to reach your target by a certain time. In this case your Big Bounce needs to be completed in the month of November, with the funds transferred to Save the Children by the 17th of December at the very latest.
