Latest news Store openingOn Wednesday 7 March local personality John X officially opened Save the Children's new store at 158 Murray Street. The shop is run by volunteers and dedicated to selling quality pre-loved childrenswear, toys and books all of which have been donated by the local community. The funds raised through sales support Save the Children's Tasmanian programs with vulnerable young people and newly arrived refugee families. Tasmanian Community Fund Save the Children's Supporting Young People on Bail program was awarded a grant $102,000 from the Tasmanian Community Fund. Following a successful 6 month pilot of the program in 2011 the program supports young people who are on bail by helping them re-engage with educational, recreational and vocational/employment opportunities. It is expected up to 80 young Tasmanians aged 10-17 will be assisted in the coming twelve months.
The program is also supported by the Andyinc Foundation, ANZ Trustees and the Law Foundation of Tasmania. Volunteering in TasmaniaWe're always looking for more wonderful volunteers to help us out. If you're interested in working in our store or assisting us with one of our events throughout the year - please get in touch. Find out more on how you can become a volunteer.
