Did you know? - India has a population over 1 billion making it one of the most populated countries in the world
- Nearly half of India's population are women and children
India is faced with an unparalleled child survival and health challenge. Nearly 2 million of the 9.2 million children that die each year before the age of five are being born in India, making it a central focus for Save the Children. We are focusing on newborn and child survival as a key priority for the next five years in line with the global health targets as outlined by Millennium Development Goals MDGs 4 and 5. The Issue - Millions of people lack access to a health worker in India
- More than 40 million children under five have no access to essential health services
Our Solution
We believe the solution is to place a health care worker in reach of every child. - It costs as little as $150 to train and equip a health care worker and has a positive impact on children and their family's lives
- We have launched a campaign No Child Born to Die which aims to train 3.5 million health care workers globally to reduce child mortality
- We are supporting Save the Children India in their work on newborn and child survival by providing knitted blankets.
