For every children's book and toy sold from IKEA’s play range, the IKEA Foundation will donate €1 to programs supporting children's right to play and develop.
Many children around the world aren’t able to enjoy the simple luxury of a safe space to play. War, poverty and displacement have taken from them what is rightfully theirs – the time and space to be themselves.
The new IKEA ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign was launched 20 November and will run until Christmas Eve.
During this time, for every children's book and toy sold from IKEA’s play range, €1 will go to programs – all over the world – that are supporting children's right to play and develop.
Programs including Save the Children’s ‘I Play, I Learn and I’m Safe’ campaign, which is focused on ensuring the safety of migrating children in Ethiopia and Bangladesh by promoting protection, education and play while they are on the move.
Children in these countries are having to relocate for various reasons. They need to be protected throughout their journey. Our program will use play as an activity, a method to learn and a method to heal.
Why is play important?
Play is learning for life. It fuels our development. It makes us more creative, stronger and more active. It teaches us how to work together and care about each other. It sparks curiosity and makes the world a bigger place. For children and for grown-ups. So for us, it makes sense to see how we can find ways for children to do more of it!
You can help by purchasing from IKEA’s play range. There are plenty of awesome kids Christmas gifts to choose from – and they come with the satisfaction of knowing you’re donating to children who need us most.
