Western Australia

Save the Children was established in Western Australia in 1946 when we collected 20,000 garments and woollen blankets to help refugee children after World War II.

Supporting children in Western Australia

From the Pilbara to Perth, you can support West Australian children whilst having fun and meeting other great people committed to making the world a more just place for our future generations. You can volunteer to be part of one of our five member Branches around Western Australia, run a book sale or fundraise yourself.

You'll be helping Save the Children reach Western Australian children with early education, youth activities and family support.

Our programs in Western Australia reflect the breadth and diversity of the state, from the Kimberley and the Pilbara to Perth. We are committed to supporting children and young people in some of the most remote and disadvantaged communities. We tackle issues at a community level and our work is focused on early childhood development, youth engagement and family support.

Save the Children Book Sales

For over 50 years the University of Western Australia has held an annual book sale to raise funds for Save the Children. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers from our Branches offering thousands of quality donated books at bargain prices, Save the Children ensures all proceeds go to support children in Western Australia and around the world. Find out more about the annual book sales and other fundraising activities in our Events information.

To safeguard everyone’s wellbeing at this year’s Sale, we will be employing thorough COVID-19 precautions.

These practical measures include:

  • limiting entry numbers at any one time
  • requesting contact details for tracing

Please do not attend the Sale if you:
