When crisis follows crisis, children need our protection and support more than ever, wherever they are in the world. Our Children’s Emergency Fund means we can act as soon as a crisis hits, and deliver lifesaving support wherever it is needed, when it matters most.
Children and families in a conflict-affected region in the Democratic Republic of Congo are facing a fast-moving Ebola outbreak. The number of deaths is rapidly increasing daily. This is a healthcare crisis affecting fragile communities that are already facing ongoing conflict, mass displacement and weakened public services. A rapid response is urgently needed to stop transmission, protect health workers, keep children safe, and ensure communities have the information and support they need.
In the Middle East and wider region, a dramatic escalation in conflict has triggered a rapidly expanding regional crisis with devastating consequences for children. Active hostilities including airstrikes, missile attacks and drone strikes continue across the region. The places where children learn, live and play have come under attack.
The escalation has also worsened the situation for children and families in the occupied Palestinian territory, where children need food, water and other essential lifesaving supplies to be let in to Gaza at scale. In the West Bank, Palestinian children and families are facing increasingly severe movement restrictions, leaving many unable to access basic services and severely limiting humanitarian organisations’ ability to reach communities in need.
This is the latest among persistent conflicts still affecting the lives of many children Iin other parts of the world. In Sudan, years of persistent violence has led to the largest child displacement crisis in the world, with millions of children forced to flee their homes. Severe acute malnutrition is skyrocketing in Save the Children clinics, and a deadly cholera outbreak is spreading across displacement camps.
In Ukraine, full-scale war continues to push many to the brink, grappling with threats to their health, safety and livelihoods.
In the aftermath of a disaster children are most vulnerable, and the impact on their mental health is immediate. The 6.3 earthquake in November 2025 that shook Afghanistan compounded a multitude of crises that already posed a threat to their rights and futures. Economic crisis, severe hunger, consecutive droughts, displacement and flooding and the tremors have turned children’s lives upside down across the country.
We know from previous experience that in any emergency, children are always the most at risk. That’s why Save the Children and our partners remain dedicated to providing life-saving assistance to children and families impacted by these crises. You can help children caught up in conflict and disasters.
