2024 Annual Report

Advancing children’s rights through action and advocacy.

In 2024, we empowered children to champion change

Throughout 2024, we worked alongside children to create lasting change — amplifying their voices, strengthening critical services and driving meaningful reforms. In Australia, we championed children’s rights through advocacy, education, and community-led initiatives, from launching the Australian Centre for Child Rights to improving early learning outcomes in Tasmania through Play2Learn+.

Our commitment to children’s wellbeing extended beyond our shores. Across the Pacific, we worked with governments to strengthen education and nutrition programs, improving literacy in Vanuatu and supporting families in Papua New Guinea to invest in healthier futures. Digital innovations also played a role, with new tools expanding access to welfare services in Sri Lanka and enhancing learning opportunities in Vietnam. In Iraq, we helped secure legal reforms allowing children with disabilities to continue their education.

We remained steadfast in advocating for children in times of crisis — condemning violations of their rights in conflict zones, ensuring young people could influence climate action on the global stage, and securing direct representation for youth in the Queensland Youth Justice Parliamentary Inquiry. We took our relentless pursuit of rustice for Australian children trapped in camps in North East Syria all the way to the High Court — arguing the Australian Government had a legal obligation to bring them home to safety.

Every day we are driven forward by the incredible courage and dedication of the children, families, staff, and supporters who share our vision. Thank you for your commitment to building a world where all children can enjoy their right to be safe, healthy and supported to reach their potential.

Our reach in numbers

Measuring our impact is essential to ensuring our programs create meaningful change for children. It helps us refine our approach, address emerging needs, and remain accountable to both the communities we serve and the supporters who make our work possible. In 2024, we reached 1.27 million people through 54 reasons in Australia and through our Pacific and International Programs.

Our global humanitarian response

Save the Children Australia is part of a worldwide network committed to delivering life-changing support in times of crisis. In 2024, thanks to our generous donors, we contributed $1.0m to global humanitarian responses, helping communities rebuild and recover.
