An unthinkable human disaster is unfolding on our doorstep
While COVID-19 continues to impact us all, some of our nearest neighbours are on the brink of a human disaster. In Indonesia, the Delta variant is ripping through the population at an unprecedented rate. Hospitals are full, intensive care units exhausted and emergency tents erected to house the desperately ill, as thousands die without help. The infection rate of children is among the highest in the world and without action, many more children and babies will die from this extremely dangerous strain.
In Fiji, a second wave is devasting lives and livelihoods, forcing families to rely on food relief packages. Some are feeding their children, including babies, on sugar and water, because they have run out of everything else. In Papua New Guinea the virus is wreaking havoc as a poorly resourced health system is overwhelmed.
Your donation will help our teams on the ground to:
Supply children and families with COVID Home care kits including oximeter, thermometer, steamer, face masks, a hand sanitiser, Vitamin C tablets and Vitamin D3 sachets, paracetamol and cough syrup.
Provide food and nutrition and financial support to families whose livelihoods have been severely impacted by COVID-19
Support children whose parents or caregivers are affected or have died from COVID-19 including counselling and psychosocial support.
COVID-19 has exposed the gap in treatment between the richest and poorest. Now we are seeing this play out in shocking clarity right on our doorstep. Your donation can help children and their families in Fiji, Indonesia, PNG and other parts of Asia and the Pacific, survive this pandemic.
Please give what you can to help protect the most vulnerable children while our neighbours struggle to cope with this human crisis.
