When violence broke out in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in 2025, she fled for safety and lost her family. “I was alone … I was separated, lost,” she says.

This tragedy happens far too often. Conflict and disasters cause massive displacement with an average of 35,000 children displaced every day. In the chaos children can get separated from their families.

They have nowhere safe to sleep. No food or water to drink. No family to give them comfort. There is only fear. Alone in a crisis, they’re at risk of exploitation, violence and abuse.
