Tens of thousands of people have lost their lives and many more injured in a devasting 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Türkiye, Syria and other areas in the region, leaving thousands homeless during a bitter winter period

Our teams are already responding through our local partners with urgent lifesaving assistance in both Türkiye (formerly known as Turkey) and Syria. Thousands of buildings have completely collapsed, including children’s homes, hospitals, schools and government buildings.

Alongside other key responders, we’re now in a race against time to protect children and their families from facing a secondary humanitarian disaster, as a result of rising hunger, disease outbreaks and impact on public services.
