Your donation will help us continue our work to minimise the pandemic’s impact on the most vulnerable children in our region.
Here’s how your generous gift will help:
Health & hygiene - In some of the poorest communities in our region, including Pacific neighbours such as Vanuatu, your support will help us promote hand washing and hygiene, distribute soap and hand sanitiser, install handwashing stations and repair toilets. You’ll also help us provide vital personal protective equipment and medical supplies, and support training of health workers.
Education - Your support will help make sure vulnerable children around the world can continue to learn during the pandemic. In Papua New Guinea you’ll help us modify existing projects using SMS, radio and social media to distribute learning materials to parents and caregivers to support continuity of learning for children in elementary education. You’ll help us facilitate other safe and accessible alternatives to learning, and help us make resource drops of books and other educational materials to isolated children. In Australia, you’ll help us make sure pre-school children can continue to learn and play with online Play2Learn sessions.
Awareness - In emergencies such as this, people need accurate information in languages they understand and via channels they trust to know what risks they face and what they can do to protect themselves. In the Solomon Islands our teams are out in the communities raising awareness about the virus and ensuring life-saving messages are delivered to children and their families. In Papua New Guinea, one of the biggest concerns in our region due to its population size and fragile health system, we are rolling out awareness messages by SMS and on local radio with five health jingles commissioned by Save the Children.
