How to help migrant children

Find out how to help migrant children by supporting our Australian programs

Did you know that more than 1,200 child migrant deaths have been recorded internationally between 2014 and 2018? In December 2018, Save the Children signed a historic pact on migration to protect vulnerable children. It’s estimated that 65 million people are currently on the move, with roughly half of them children.

Our programs help migrant children who may be travelling on their own. To further help migrant children, Save the Children was a signatory to a 2017 Initiative for Child’s Rights in the Global Compacts. With a single or regular donation to Save the Children, you can help migrant children who have been displaced.

How Can I Help Migrant Families?

We run child protection and education programs throughout Australia. One particular program, It Takes a Village, provides supported playgrounds for children and women from migrant backgrounds.

Launched to significantly improve a child’s mental health and wellbeing, this program also helps improve parenting skills and develop social networks of migrant families who have been through similar experiences. Learn more about the programs we run and support our efforts with a single or regular donation.

Donate to Migrant Children & Families

Across urban, remote and regional locations, we are dedicated to helping Australian children reach their full potential. Our Australian programs also provide protection services for children and their mothers who are experiencing abuse and family violence.
