Our work in Australia

Making sure children experience their rights in real and meaningful ways.

Australia's first and leading children’s rights organisation

Save the Children has been working in Australia for more than 100 years to make sure all children and young people know their rights and have them met, so that they can thrive in all their diversity, creativity and curiosity. And so that adults everywhere know and support these rights too.

Since 2022 we’ve been delivering our services in Australia as 54 reasons. The name 54 reasons represents the 54 articles in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

A force for change in every state and territory

We're part of the communities in which we work, delivering local services in every state and territory – across regions, remote areas and capital cities – to help children and young people improve their life outcomes. Our workforce is over 600 people strong, and as diverse as the communities we serve. We are a passionate group of Child Development Specialists, Teachers, Youth Workers, Family Support Practitioners, and more. We bring ideas and energy to everything we do to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and their families.
