Save the Children’s staff benefits

Interested in a career in charity work? Read more about the benefits of working for Save the Children on our website.

Salary packaging

If you’re employed as full-time or part-time staff , you can increase your take home pay by taking advantage of salary packaging. This allows you to pay for certain expenses like mortgage, rent, or school fees upfront before tax is taken out.

Flexible working arrangements

Our work doesn’t always fit the 9 to 5. Your life doesn’t always fit the hours around it. Our flexible work policies enable you to work from home, compress your work week, or job share where appropriate.

Child and parent friendly

We put children at the centre of our work. We know they are the centre of yours. We have arrangements for children in the workplace in all state offices and we offer paid parental leave to both the primary and secondary carer of a biological or adopted child.

Pet friendly

In our Melbourne office, we welcome our furry friends to join us on Tuesdays and Fridays. It’s well known that having pets in the office can reduce stress and improve morale. And we love seeing their shiny faces!

Deployment opportunities

Keen to broaden your experience and travel to some of Australia’s most beautiful remote locations? Our program staff have the opportunity to deploy to help out other programs when needed, for a few days, weeks or months depending on your interest.

Extra leave

More annual leave? Sure! All of our program staff are gifted three days’ bonus leave between Christmas and New Year, and our non-program staff can use our Holiday Club, which gives eligible employees an extra week’s leave when they use up all their leave during the year. All staff can also choose to purchase additional leave during the year for extra time off.

Staff wellbeing

We offer free external, professional and confidential counselling assistance to our staff for personal, family or career related issues. Our program staff are offered professional monthly supervision sessions.

Continuous professional development

To be better we have to keep learning. It’s an expectation and a promise we hold all our employees to. We support where you want to take your career through continuous training and development. Study leave support is also available for employees who are undertaking further qualifications.
