There is nowhere safe left for children
The worst-case scenario we feared is becoming a reality. Since the war on Gaza escalated, many lives have been lost and childhoods shattered. Thousands of children are missing. Many have become separated from families or left orphaned as violence forced them to flee their homes. You can donate to Gaza.
In Rafah,
nowhere and no one is safe. Families have no options left – they are trapped. It’s more relevant than ever to give to Gaza charity.
- Food and water are running out. The Gaza emergency means we are witnessing the worst level of child malnutrition worldwide and children are dying because of starvation and disease at the highest pace the world has ever seen.
- Medicine is running out. Providing more food items to malnourished children isn’t enough for them to recover. They require urgent and specialised medical intervention. A Gaza relief is needed to save their lives.
- Fuel is running out. Fuel shortages in Gaza are causing problems for health services and access to water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. The lack of fuel and difficulties in accessing areas are making it hard to manage waste properly.
- Time is running out. Children need more aid and an immediate and definitive ceasefire. Donate to Gaza charity.
Save the Children’s response
Since 1973, Save the Children has had a permanent presence in the occupied Palestinian territory. We have been at the forefront of a Gaza emergency relief efforts. With the recent escalation of violence, our teams have been working around the clock to get vital supplies to families in Gaza - drinking water, food, hygiene products, mattresses, blankets, learning kits, toys, and games. Our local partners inside Gaza continue to distribute these supplies across shelters and households, while we explore options to reach more children and families through direct delivery.
We are providing mental health and psychosocial support to children and their families, and delivering cash to families to help them to buy essentials.
Our intention is to continue operations in Gaza, including in Rafah and Al-Mawasi, but it’s very difficult and we must make sure our staff are not putting themselves at risk to provide service.
Save the Children protects the lives of children, here in Australia, in the Pacific and around the world. We respond to children’s needs in times of crisis, with help from our community of supporters.
