Children in Afghanistan need your help now

DONATE NOW

You can be there for children at their time of need

When crisis follows crisis, children need our protection and support more than ever, wherever they are in the world.

A devastating 6.0 magnitude earthquake has struck Afghanistan’s eastern region putting children’s lives at risk. Initial reports indicate more than 800 people have been killed, but with tremors still occurring and blocked roads and damaged communication lines impacting the flow of information, this figure is only likely to rise over the coming days as search and rescue operations continue.

Children who survive disasters like this earthquake are at risk of being left alone, terrified and vulnerable. Where homes have been destroyed, they will need immediate shelter and emergency relief items. From experience, we know often schools and hospitals can be damaged, threatening to cut them off from essential services they need to survive.

Save the Children is working in the affected provinces and we have already deployed a mobile health team for the affected children and families in both Nangarhar and Kunar provinces, and we will also be providing clean water, sanitation and hygiene as well as child protection support.

Your donation can help provide families with emergency healthcare, shelter, and essentials to help keep them safe in emergencies like this.

DONATE NOW TO THE CHILDREN’S EMERGENCY FUND

In times of crises like this, Save the Children is there. We are always among the first organisations to deliver life-saving support for children and their families.

Our Children’s Emergency Fund allows us to respond wherever the need is greatest. It helps us to reach children quickly with the essentials they need to survive.

Our teams had prepositioned hygiene kits, shelter repair kits, tarpaulins, education kits and other resources in warehouses to allow rapid responses to emergencies across Afghanistan.

Your gift today can help us continue to deliver urgent relief including shelter, medical care and essential supplies, to children and families who have lost everything.

YOU CAN HELP SAVE LIVES

With your help, Save the Children works with children in some of the most vulnerable circumstances, wherever they are. Over the past 100 years, we’ve been there for children through extraordinary global challenges. We aren’t going to stop now.

The needs are huge, but so is our determination to reach every last child in crisis.

We have the experience to limit the effects of crises like this latest earthquake in Afghanistan on children's lives – and our Children’s Emergency Fund is the key to unlocking this expertise. Thanks to your support, we can help children in their darkest hour.
