Meet our media team

Our media team is available to answer any queries from the media about Save the Children's programs in Australia and overseas, our humanitarian relief work and our current campaigns.

Jane Gardner – Head of Media

Jane Gardner – Head of Media

Jane is an award-winning journalist and senior media expert with 15 years’ experience leading external relations for not-for-profit organisations.

Prior to joining Save the Children, she led media relations for Plan International, including undertaking emergency deployments and establishing its ambassador program.

She managed media engagement for the University of Melbourne’s prestigious Medical Faculty and the Victorian Health Promotion Foundation, where she led anti-racism and anti-family violence campaigns.

Jane is passionate about advocating for the rights of all children and for progress towards gender equality.

Angus Smith – Media Manager

Angus Smith – Media Manager

Angus has worked in communications and journalism for over 10 years, including several roles in the international humanitarian sector, where he has worked on major national and international campaigns.

Angus has a Master of Communication from Bond University and is currently undertaking a Master of Journalism at Monash University. He regularly contributes to leading Australian and International publications.

In his spare time Angus is an Editor of Right Now Magazine, an independent not for profit media organisation focused on human rights issues in Australia.
