All children deserve a healthy start in life, access to education and protection from harm. In the Philippines, many children are without basic healthcare and education and are also at risk of violence, abuse, child trafficking and child labour. Below is information about the programs we run, as a charity working in the Philippines, to help children in need.

How our Philippines charity programs help children in need
In politically-unstable areas, especially those prone to natural disasters, we know that children are the most vulnerable. As a charity working in the Philippines, we strive to protect children from harm and help them grow up healthy, and with education.
Some of the work we are doing in the Philippines includes:
- Working with children in urban areas in the Philippines to help them gain access to food, water, healthcare and schools along with children impacted by conflict in Mindanao, and their families.
- With children under five and pregnant mothers among the most at-risk of preventable disease and health complications during pregnancy and birth, we help to provide access to healthcare, pre- and post-natal care and birthing support. We’re also training health workers, providing support and advice to help end newborn & maternal deaths, and to improve health knowledge and family care practices.
- When disaster strikes, our Emergency Health Unit consisting of nurses, doctors, logisticians and engineers can be deployed within 24 hours. We are working to improve school safety during natural disasters so children can be safe and continue their education no matter what. Ongoing we provide psychosocial support to help children recover from the traumatic events they’ve experienced and ensure they have the protection they need to stay safe from harm. We also help to reunite families that may have been separated.
- We provide education programs, particularly to those in remote areas of the Philippines and we’re training teachers to use more effective practices that better engage their students.
