Transforming lives in the Pacific

We’re supporting children and families to overcome health, education, protection and climate change challenges across the region.

ANCP programs empower children and families

We’re committed to helping Pacific children grow up happy, healthy, safe and connected to community and culture. With the support of the Australian Government, we’re supporting children and families to overcome challenges region-wide. Our Pacific Children program works in tandem with local partners to drive meaningful change across Tonga, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.

The Pacific faces a range of challenges, from limited access to healthcare and quality education, to the impacts of climate change and disasters. Many Pacific nations grapple with economic insecurity, leading to some of the highest stunting rates amongst children anywhere in the world. At Save the Children, we are dedicated to confronting these issues head-on, employing innovative strategies to build a brighter future for Pacific children and families.

Our initiatives

Pacific Children supports children, families, communities and governments to provide safe, nurturing environments so children grow up safe from harm and attain their full developmental potential.

In Tonga, we're working with the government to strengthen child protection systems, with a focus on training teachers to keep children protected from harm.

In Vanuatu, we’re helping young children grow up safe and strong by creating nurturing home environments. We're collaborating with the government to strengthen safety nets for families in crisis, as well as helping young people raise their voices on climate change.

In Papua New Guinea, we’re supporting health staff and parents to create safe and nurturing home environments for children, as well as helping change attitudes to reduce men’s violence against women and children.

And in the Solomon Islands, we’re working to keep kids safe at school and in the home, including by strengthening child protection systems and school safety management.

Through our innovative projects, we're making strides towards a future where every child in the Pacific
has the opportunity to thrive.
