Support an Australian children’s charity that helps children of all backgrounds, including indigenous peoples. Every child deserves a bright future and children in marginalised or remote communities often don’t have access to the support and services they need to thrive. When children are in unsafe home environments or experience family violence this can lead to homelessness, antisocial behaviour, drug and alcohol misuse and unsafe practices. Below is info on the programs we run to help give children & young people the support they need and the opportunity to grow into happy, healthy adults.
As Australia’s leading child rights organisation, we always place children at the centre of everything we do. We always make sure their unique needs are met, support them in telling their own stories and allow their voices to be heard. The programs and initiatives we run throughout Australia such as our Family violence refuges and Intensive Family Support Services program focus on supporting mums & babies, toddlers & teens and refugees.
Our Work With Indigenous Peoples
Our work also focuses on empowering indigenous children and young people - to be proud of who they are and where they come from. We work closely with communities and caregivers because we know the positive difference supportive relationships can make for children & young people.
We provide quality services to indigenous children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that they develop and learn, and are connected, safe & confident. We work to ensure every child has access to quality learning environments, local services and safe & supportive places where they can play and connect with others.
Indigenous Youth Programs
By ensuring young people have access to the support & services they need, we know we can help change the trajectory of their lives so they can thrive and grow into happy, healthy adults. Some of the programs we run include:
Our programs aim to make long-lasting change for indigenous children and young people - helping them to reach their full potential with the capabilities, connections and confidence for success in their future.
We have local people working in more than 197 communities and remote/metropolitan locations right across Australia. We work in partnership with local communities, all levels of government, other NGOs, community and advocacy groups, corporate partners and individual donors to create lasting change for aboriginal children, families and their communities.
