Right now there are millions of children around the world whose rights are threatened. There are children suffering from malnutrition, dying of starvation & preventable diseases, children caught in the middle of conflict experiencing traumatic events no child should ever have to endure. There are children at risk of exploitation & abuse. Children who don’t have access to basic healthcare or an education. Below is how you can help make a difference to these children’s lives by making charitable donations through payroll deductions.
Our world should be one where every child lives, learns, is safe from harm and has a bright future. That is our vision, which through our programs and emergency response aid we are working hard to achieve. Save The Children helps millions of children in over 100 countries around the world, but we can’t do it without the donations we receive. Regular donations are vital for us to continue the work we are doing, especially in remote & rural communities. To help save the lives of children around the world and give them the best opportunity in life, here is how you can make charitable donations through payroll deductions to our payroll charity.
What are Payroll donations?
Payroll donations are where you make regular donations to a charity through your payroll. Charitable donations through payroll deductions receive an up front tax deduction - this means that say you donate $5 to a payroll charity, it only costs you $3.50 (exact figure is dependent on your ATO tax bracket and the deduction is up front) but the payroll charity still receives the full $5. By donating to a payroll charity from your pre-tax salary it costs you less to give more to a good cause!
How to set up charitable donations through Payroll deductions
To set up donations to our payroll charity you can ask your payroll team if they already have a payroll donations form. Choose the amount you wish to donate from each payslip, fill out the form, nominating Save The Children as your payroll charity and return to your payroll team. If they don't have a payroll donations form we can provide you with a payroll donations authorisation form that you can give to your payroll team once you’ve filled it out. At the end of the financial year, your payroll team will provide a statement of the payroll donations you have made throughout the year along with your Group Certificate.
Benefits of making charitable donations through Payroll deductions
Firstly, by choosing Save The Children as your payroll charity you are helping to create a world where every child has a safe & happy childhood, a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. You are helping to save children’s lives when disaster strikes. Also by donating to a payroll charity from your pre-tax salary, you’ll automatically receive your tax deduction for your donation up front which means you don’t need to keep receipts to claim back at tax time.
And for employers, payroll donations are a great, low-cost way for your organisation to be involved in a meaningful and impactful program that enhances your social responsibility reputation. Studies have also shown that organisations highly involved in the community are more appealing to employees, customers, stakeholders and the broader community.
