Who’s ready for Christmas?

28 November 2023, Retail

Our op shop elves have you covered with jingle bell bargains

Does Christmas shopping fill you with dread? Fear not! Our op shops are stacked with delightfully discounted discoveries. This holiday season treat yourself and your loved ones to gifts that will impact the lives of children – not the environment, or your wallet!

The shelves of Save the Children retail stores around the country are creaking under the weight of so many wonderful gifts. From quality clothes and homewares, to electrical goods, books and toys, there are so many hidden gems to be discovered.

Your op to shop

This Christmas and holiday period is the perfect opportunity to buy local, support a great cause and prevent quality goods from going to landfill. Volunteers for Save the Children carefully curate our op shops to ensure all items are in great condition. This includes fantastic items for all ages, like clothing, kitchen appliances and the little treasures that make perfect gifts for children, families and friends.

There are a million great reasons to buy from a Save the Children op shop – here are our top three:

1. Save money

Find high quality gifts, without the high-end price tags. We only accept items in great condition and rigorously check our stock for quality assurance. This allows you to focus more on celebrating with the ones you love, without worrying about kicking off 2024 behind on your savings goals.

2. Save the environment

Every item purchased at our op shops diverts quality goods away from landfills. This means your shopping can reduce the amount of pollution created this holiday period. Op shops support a circular economy, minimising pollution from manufacturing and transport processes. Buying recycled presents is the perfect way to start a new sustainable holiday tradition.

3. Save the Children

Simply put, shopping at our retail stores is supporting the programs run by Save the Children. When you purchase items at our op shops you are contributing to the lives of children in Australia and around the world. Profits from the op shops go straight back to support our programs which ensure kids are healthy, educated and protected from harm.

Are gifts too hard? Try a gift card!

Wondering what to get for someone who seems to have it all? A gift card is the ideal solution! Choose a Save the Children Op Shop Gift Card for the special someone in your life who delights in shopping.

Select any value for the card – whether it's a swift $10 addition to a Christmas stocking, or a more substantial amount for someone revamping their wardrobe. The decision is entirely up to you.

For any celebration, an Op Shop Gift Card stands out as the ultimate gift for bargain hunters and those passionate about helping children.

Give your beloved items a second chance!

Your home's unused treasures can also make a significant difference this Christmas. As we continue to welcome donations, those unused items cluttering your space could find a new home and support the lives of children. We encourage you to donate your well-maintained, resalable items to our op shops during this holiday season.

We're on the lookout for high quality clothing, home decor, books, records, puzzles, and much more. Some of our locations even welcome larger items like furniture, appliances, rugs, and electronics, provided they're clean and shop-ready.

Before donating, please check with your nearest store to confirm the types of items they accept for resale. We request donations during business hours only. For smaller items like lone socks, fabric scraps, and sewing materials, arrange a pickup with our recycling partner, UPPAREL to help us minimise textile waste.

We can’t wait to see you!
