Save the Children Australia is delighted to announce Larry Kamener as the new Board Chair, succeeding Peter Hodgson.
03 March 2021

Save the Children Australia is delighted to announce Larry Kamener as the new Board Chair, succeeding Peter Hodgson.

Save the Children Australia CEO Paul Ronalds said he was delighted to welcome Larry to the role.

“It has been brilliant to work alongside Peter, who has been an integral part of leading Save the Children Australia through dynamic and transformational change.

“I am excited to continue our important work with Larry Kamener, who has a wealth of experience and knowledge and I am certain our organisation will continue to grow from strength to strength.

Larry Kamener said he was honoured to be selected as the new Chair.

“I look forward to continuing the great work that Peter Hodgson has done locally and globally with Save the Children for many years,” said Mr Kamener.

“Peter is completing his tenure as chair after helping to lead the organisation through a significant period of transformation.”

“Under Peter’s leadership, Save the Children Australia merged with four other charities, started various social enterprises, grew its programming footprint in Australia considerably and last year, launched the first impact fund run by a charity in Australia.”

Peter Hodgson reflected on his nine years as Board Chair of Save the Children Australia.

“Save the Children Australia is the most dynamic aid organisation in the sector. It has been my privilege to be part of such a forward-thinking and innovative team,” said Mr Hodgson.

“If I have helped make the world for children a better place than I am happy.”

“It has been an enlightening journey and I know I am leaving the organisation in good hands. I want to thank everyone I’ve worked with along the way - change can’t happen without the trust, support and input of staff at every level.”

Peter will officially hand over the reins to Larry after his final Board meeting on 24 March 2021.

Peter will remain chair of the Centre For Evidence and Implementation, one of Save the Children’s social enterprises, and a board member of the Save the Children Impact Fund.
